For the love of music
The Salonorchestra Alt Wien was founded in 1999 by Josip Susnjara and Professor Udo Zwölfer, the long-time principal leader of the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra. It is a special characteristic of the Salonorchestra’s musicians that they are able to produce a rich symphonic sound without a conductor.
It is the concert master who directs the orchestra from the position of first violin, as did Johann Strauss and Josef Lanner. The way in which each player listens to the others, and the constant dialogue between the musicians, produce a joyous energy which communicates itself directly to the audience in the concert hall.
The Salonorchestra Alt Wien is glad to present its concerts performing with a prestigious grand piano by Bösendorfer.
