| Kursalon Wien Johannesgasse 33, 1010 Vienna In 1865-1867, Johann Garben built the Kursalon at one end of the park in Italian Renaissance style, in the spirit of historicism. Balls and promenade concerts, many directed by Johann Strauss and his brother Eduard, filled this building with an atmosphere of musical delight and joie de vivre.

| Heeresgeschichtliches Museum Wien Arsenal Objekt 1, 1030 Vienna The Museum of Military History, one of the most important history museums in the world, is situated right in the centre of the Arsenal. It was built according to the plans of Ludwig Foerster and Theophil Hansen from 1850 to 1856 and was thus the first Viennese museum. | Palais Ferstel Strauchgasse 4, 1010 Wien The magnificent Palais Ferstel is located in one of the oldest parts of Vienna. Inspired by a long journey to Italy, the young architect Heinrich von Ferstel created one of the cities most interesting 19th-century edifices. For a short time it housed the Vienna Stock Exchange and the Austro-Hungarian central bank. It boasted stylish rooms, a glass-covered inner courtyard and the perfect spot for the Cafe Central, which became the focal point of Vienna and Europe’s intellectual elite at the close of the 19th century. |

| Hofburg Josefsplatz, 1010 Vienna The Vienna Hofburg is the former imperial residence. From 1438 to 1583 and from 1612 to 1806 it was the residence of the Kings and Emperors of the Holy Roman Empire, and subsequently the residence of the Emperors of Austria until 1918. Today it is the official residence of the the President of Austria. The elegant ballroom, formerly Empress Maria Theresia’s ballroom, was comprehensively renovated and modernised following a fire in 1992. Old and new go hand in hand here.

| Musikverein Bösendorfer Straße 12, 1010 Vienna After a building period of 3 years, in the year 1870, the new Musikverein was opened. Every 1 January, the Musikverein is the focus for music-lovers worldwide with its famous New Year’s Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic which enthralls around a billion people around the globe. The magnificent Brahms Hall is once more to be seen in its original glory and has excellent accoustics. Its is so named because of the numerous first performances of Brahms’s works.

| Konzerthaus Lothringer Straße 20, 1030 Vienna The Viennese Konzerthaus building was constructed by the famous architect Ludwig Baumann and opened on 19 October 1913 by Emperor Franz Joseph I. The building, a fine architectural example of Vienna’s Art Nouveau, has a special historical atmosphere and offers festive surroundings for various music festivals and premieres by composers and musicians of international repute. The Mozart Hall provides an intimacy and a splendid setting for each performance of chamber music or solo concerts.
